Sculpture Garden

Thanks to the donation of a kind benefactor, work has now begun on a sculpture garden at Refinery Artspace

working men:

The Refinery Sculpture Garden will act as a place of peace and inspiration for the people of Nelson. Sculpture is a popular form of artwork. It has a special way of enhancing the natural environment and it enables artists to be able to work on a larger scale and use different media. Although popular, there is limited sculpture exhibition space in Nelson. The Refinery Sculpture Garden has been specially designed by Project Manager, Lyndsay Dixon, in consultation with Tim Wraight, renowned local sculptor and organiser of the Arts Festival Sculpture Exhibition 2007. The garden, as an extension of the indoor gallery spaces at Refinery, will be a unique outdoor gallery for showcasing the sculptural works of local artists and a wonderful way of supporting emerging sculptors of our region.

Completion of the project is expected by April.

Thanks to the following people who have donated their expertise to the Façade and Garden:
Facade: Marc Barron (Architect), Diana Polkinghorn (Interior Designer)
Sculpture Garden: Lyndsay Dixon (Project Manager), Tony Stephens (Decks), Tim Wraight (sculpture selection and placement), Keryn Squires (environmental impact of garden)
